What is telebehavioral health (online counseling)?
Telebehavioral health is sometimes called online therapy, e-counseling, e-psychotherapy, and mobile or online counseling. Telebehavioral health counseling uses electronic communications or information technologies via online video-conferencing through software that is HIPAA compliant and encrypted for your privacy and confidentiality. Telebehavioral health is the use of video and audio technologies to support long-distance services between providers and their clients.

Why telebehavioral health vs in-person counseling?
The primary benefits of telebehavioral health is increased access, decreased travel times and costs, increased speed of delivery, reduced healthcare costs, and increased patient satisfaction. Clients that are housebound or have severe agoraphobia, without access to transportation, and living in rural areas are some other benefits to online counseling. Not wanting to take off work as much or as long because of the commute, and not having to leave ones home or office makes online counseling more desirable. Online counseling delivers counseling services right where you are. During a time of pandemics and government mandated lockdowns and social distancing requirements we provide the option to receive counseling through telephone and/or video rather than no counseling at all during these times of isolation.
Who is not a good fit for online counseling?
Individuals with severe personality disorders, serious mental illness, sex offenders, and under the influence of drugs and alcohol during online counseling are not a good fit for online counseling services. This also includes individuals with active paranoid/delusions or unmanaged schizophrenia symptoms; these individuals require a facility that can prescribe medications and provide medication monitoring. Individuals that are suicidal or homicidal with a plan and intent at time of service are not appropriate for online counseling. An in-person mental health facility with an integrative approach is a much more effective and appropriate service than online counseling.
Before first online counseling appointment requirement
Before scheduling your first online counseling appointment, we prefer you to create and sign into your client portal to review, complete, sign, and save each form provided to you. Once all these documents have been completed, signed, and saved in your client portal, the clinician will review each completed form. You can also schedule your own appointment while in your client portal as well.
If you are ready to begin the process of creating and signing into your client portal to review, complete, sign, and save your client forms for the clinician to review before your first appointment and to schedule your first appointment yourself, then go to the following link:
