Who I Assist:
Hi, I’m Indira Fewell and I look forward to assisting you in your journey through healing, growth and change. I assist individuals with mild to severe depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Additionally, I assist those with acute and chronic sexual, physical, and mental trauma. I support those that are hurting from grief, loss or bereavement. I assist crime victims desiring to transform themselves towards becoming an empowered survivor. I assist individuals wanting to overcome obstacles, set-backs, and situational problems. I assist individuals feeling stuck in negative thinking and behavioral patterns desiring to discover positive alternative ways of thinking and behaving. I encourage individuals desiring to learn about their own spirituality to explore their meaning, purpose, and connections with others. I assist those wanting to find their joy for living again. I assist clients that identify with the LGBTQ communities.
How I Assist:
I provide a safe environment where trust can be learned, developed, and practiced in and outside of the therapeutic experience. I provide a multi-dimensional perspective in assisting clients in solving problems. I provide a space for exploring and resolving ambivalence where thinking and behavior changes are desired. I provide a safe and compassionate place where healing, growth, and change can happen. I provide the environment where individuals can be empowered to create a beautiful future. I provide a therapeutic environment where non-judgement, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence does occur. I provide a person-centered style of counseling to evoke behavioral changes by exploring and resolving ambivalence.
My Experience:
I have experience assisting client’s with childhood and adult trauma; including but not limited to sexual, mental, and physical abuse. In addition, I have experience in providing services for clients with co-occurring, multiple, and complex serious mental illness diagnoses. I have been involved in assisting client’s with brief problem solving, situational issues, and longer term problems. For several years, I have provided counseling to inmates for a county jail. I have provided services for assessing clients at immediate risk of harm to self/others/other at risk factors that would suggest a need for inpatient mental health treatment. In addition, I have experience with managing clients with suicidal risk to keep them from going inpatient.
My Education:
I received a Bachelor in Psychology at Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Social Work at University of Texas at Arlington. After getting my MSW degree, I went to work at a mental health clinic for a state department and continue to provide services there while providing services within my own private practice.
